The short version
Kindred Village is a private, parent-owned record of your child’s growth. You own your data. We never sell it, we never use it for advertising, and we do not read your child’s records. You can export everything at any time, and if you cancel, your records are permanently deleted. You decide which therapists you invite and exactly what they can see.
What Kindred Village is
Kindred Village is a personal record that a parent or guardian keeps about their own child: notes, daily logs, milestones, goals, documents, and messages with the therapists they choose to invite. It is a tool for the family’s own use. It is not a medical or clinical system of record, and it is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Information we collect
- Your account: your name, email address, and a securely hashed password.
- What you enter about your child: the notes, logs (sleep, diet, behavior, medications), milestones, goals, appointments, IEP details, and Snapshot profile you choose to record.
- Files you upload: documents (such as IEPs or evaluations) and photos you add to your child’s record.
- Care-team activity: the therapists you invite, what each is allowed to do, and the private messages and notes exchanged with them.
- Basic technical logs needed to keep the service secure and running (for example, error logs). We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use your information
We use your information only to provide Kindred Village to you. Specifically, to:
- save your records and show them back to you across your devices;
- let the therapists you invite see only the parts you have shared with them;
- send you account email you ask for, such as an invite link or a password reset;
- keep the service secure, backed up, and working.
We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use the contents of your child’s records to train models or build profiles. We do not read your records except in the narrow cases required to operate the service (for example, to investigate a specific technical problem you report, or where we are legally required to).
Who can see your data
- You see everything in your child’s record.
- Therapists you invite see only their own lane: what they enter, the messages you exchange with them, and only what you have chosen to share. A therapist never sees your other records or any other therapist’s notes, and only ever sees the one child you invited them to.
- Anyone you share a Snapshot link with sees only that one read-only Snapshot, and only until the link expires or you revoke it.
- We do not share your data with anyone else, except the limited service providers who host the infrastructure on our behalf, or where the law requires it.
Children’s information
Kindred Village accounts are held by parents and guardians, not by children. The information about your child is entered and controlled by you. Children do not create accounts or use Kindred Village directly. You are always in control of your child’s record and can export or delete it at any time.
The therapists you invite
Therapists join at your invitation, for your convenience, and add to your record as a courtesy to you. Kindred Village is your personal record, not the therapist’s official clinical file. You can turn a therapist’s access on or off, and you can retire a therapist at any time; their access ends immediately while the notes they added stay in your record.
Where your data lives and how we protect it
- Connections to Kindred Village are encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
- Passwords are stored only as secure hashes, never in plain text.
- Access is controlled so that each person sees only what they are permitted to see.
- Your records are backed up so they are not lost.
No online service can promise perfect security, but we use sensible, current safeguards to protect your family’s information.
Your choices and control
- Export: download a complete copy of your account data at any time from your settings.
- Delete: delete your account whenever you choose. When you cancel or delete, your child’s records are permanently removed.
- Correct: you can edit or remove anything you have entered.
Data retention
We keep your records for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we permanently delete your records. Routine backups are rotated out on a regular schedule after deletion.
Changes to this policy
If we make a meaningful change to this policy, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, let you know by email or in the app.
